"Accounting, a serious game" is the first online interactive specialized French course!
Composed of 5 modules of 75 minutes each, this course immerses you in the professional environment of an accounting firm. It allows you to acquire and practice your French in a professional context. Through the daily life of the WS team, you will practice realistic interactions in everyday professional situations.
Module 1 : Welcoming New clients
Help your coworkers Myriam, Mireille, Pierre and Keith to open an account for a new client.
Duration: 75 min.
Once you complete this module, you will be able to:
- Use different types of questions to gather information
- Use « vous » or « tu » correctly
- Use appropriate language in different contexts
- Make polite requests using the conditional
- Use the accounting terminology of the module
Through these activities you can practice different types of communication in realistic situations such as phone calls, discussions with clients and coworkers, email exchanges, and voicemails.

Module 2 : Gathering Documents
Gather all the documents necessary for proper bookkeeping with Myriam, Simmi, Pierre and Keith.
Duration : 75 min.
Once you complete this module, you will be able to:
- Choose the correct linking words to organize your ideas logically
- Express yourself clearly
- Recognize the most common anglicisms and replace them with the proper French terms
- Simplify and clarify your speech using relative pronouns
- Use complex sentences with past forms in the appropriate contexts
- Use the accounting terminology of the module

Module 3 : Managing Documents
Process the documents of your teammates’ clients. The end of the financial year is the busiest time for accountants and each client is a priority.
Duration : 75 min.
Once you complete this module, you will be able to:
- Use appropriate pronouns to avoid repetitions in your communication
- Use past participles with être and avoir
- Use a variety of time expressions
- Use indirect speech (eg. tense changes, time expressions, pronouns, and sentence structure changes)
- Use the accounting terminology of the module

- Interpret a company’s financial information
- Express your opinion in a variety of ways
- Ask and give clarification
- Use the accounting terminology of the module

Together with the WS team, present the financial statements and provide the necessary guidance to the clients.

Once you complete this module, you will be able to:
- Explain the cause and effect of a situation to a client
- Suggest management changes or relevant investments using subjunctive
- Ask about a client’s future projects and ask for clarification if needed
- Explain possible outcomes
- Use the accounting terminology of the module.
