  • The new model of the exam will be gradually implemented for all professional orders and OACIQ (real estate brokers) over the course of 2018. You can visit the OQLF website and see the calendar with the professions and dates. Click Here.

IMPORTANT: If you have already taken the OQLF Exam and need to retake the 4 or only some parts of it, you are allowed to continue with the old version of the exam within 6 months after the implementation date of the new model for your profession.

You will find all the necessary information in the OQLF guide. Click Here.
Same as for the old exam model, you will receive an exam date by mail. You cannot choose the date for your exam. This is why we recommend you contact us about your preparation before receiving your exam date.

    • The new exam is evaluated with a new assessment grid based on 3 levels. Details about these levels and the criteria for both the speaking and writing portions are available in the OQLF information guide (Pages 9 to 11).
    • As before, the writing portion must contain between 150 and 200 words depending on your profession.

  • The revised exam consists of both individual (comprehension and writing)and group activities (comprehension and speaking). During these different parts you must interact with a maximum of 8 other participants. All of them have the same profession as you. The interactions will be about a case study.

    • Reading comprehension : Each participant receives a document with :
      • A general overview of the case study with some background information
      • Partial information on the case to share with the other participants
    • Oral comprehension : During this period all participants exchange their own information about the case, and discuss possible solutions or recommendations. Participants are expected to take some notes.
    • Writing : With the help of the first document received and their notes from the previous discussion about the case, each participant has to write a text and propose a solution or a recommendation about the case.
    • Oral production : During an individual interview the evaluator plays a role related to the case study and brings up some new pieces of information. In response, the participant must suggest a solution or make an appropriate recommendation.

    • Unlike the old exam, candidates will have to receive a grade over 60% on the 4 parts of the exam on the same day.
    • If you contest the assessment, it is still possible to ask for a revision in writing (writing or oral part) within the month following the results.
    • You can still take the exam as many times as necessary, with a 3-month period in between. It is important to pay attention to your weaknesses before taking the exam again since several failures in a row may be detrimental to your self-esteem and confidence.
